To help answer any questions you might have, we have also compiled an alphabetical glossary written in plain English. If your questions are not answered in this faqs section, or the glossary, hopefully it will be answered by the T&Cs. What is the company philosophy?

Our aims are an important element of the company and how it operates. These are stated as:

authenticity
Ensure any claims made about the product can be backed up. All of our products are accredited at the raw material stage or through processing and manufacturing to the final product. Our aim is for all of our products to become fully (Global Organic Textile Standard) GOTS certified from start to finish.

our definition of sustainability
To promote a sustainable supply chain, defined as one which is economically viable, socially just and environmentally sound for all partners involved and at all stages of the supply chain. The reason for choosing organic cotton.

design
Original design, both of form – the pattern, embroidery, fabric - and function; duvet cover

transparency
To be open and honest with all of our suppliers in our dealings and ensure there is transparency within all stages of supply and manufacture, from fibre origin to the finished bed linen through certification. To ensure transparency of each of our products’ supply chains, we have selected GOTS certified organic cotton as the standard to work to in which each stage of the product is certified, from its origin to finished bed linen.

What is organic cotton?

Organic relates to a farming system which uses a holistic approach to ensure the sustainability of the soil and extends to cover the production and processing of the cotton. Organic cotton means that the bed linen and accessories you are buying is from cotton which has been grown organically, without synthetic fertilisers or pesticides, and treatments or processes use only natural or biodegradable means.

What are the benefits of organic cotton?

There are benefits at the individual, social, environmental and economic level. At an individual level, careful monitoring and testing is carried out at each stage to check the level of chemical residues in the bed linen which ensure it is indeed a natural product and the risk of allergic reaction on skin contact is reduced. At the environmental level, the holistic approach to farming results in healthier soil and the removal of pollutants. Socially and economically, farmers can be lifted out of poverty through the cultivation of organic cotton crops: firstly, they do not enter into debt to buy fertilisers to cultivate the cotton, secondly GOTS comes with social clauses which ensure decent working conditions, fair pay for the farmers who in organic cotton are not subject to the falling prices of conventional cotton on the global market.

What is the Fou registered duvet and how does it work?

The fou registered duvet has the opening along the  top of the duvet cover, positioned on the right hand side. The opening allows you to more easily insert the duvet cover in the corners without having to funnel in to it. On designs with a form of pattern, we have combined the form (the pattern) with the function (the duvet cover entry). For ease of make up, place the whole duvet cover on top of the bed, then insert the duvet. The weight and positioning of the opening flap leaves it in place without the need for plastic poppers, buttons or metal zips.
